This was a wonderful day in the life of the Stanley Union Church. A near capacity crowd gathered to be witnesses and supporters of the Dedication of the Building to the Lord. Here are a few pictures from that memorable day...

Dedicating faith

More and more churches in urban areas are backing off denominational labels.

It's something the Stanley Union Church did more than 100 years ago. The reasoning for the Stanley church to be open to those of all faiths came about more from necessity than a desire to fill the pews.
"There were lots of different churches in the early days," said Don King, a life-time member of the Stanley Union Church. "Eventually, they all ended and we were left."
Pastor John Nash, who's been on the job in Stanley for four years, put it even better.
"God's word has no denominations," he said.
Through the years, the church has been located in different buildings in the village, but since November, services have been held in a new 15,000-square-foot building.
A dedication ceremony will be held at the new church building on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Although the church has about 90 members, its sanctuary can easily seat more. The church also has numerous classrooms.
Nash said the idea is to have a church that can serve its parishioners and well as handle growth.

December 2012 Move In

Members were thrilled with the Christmas blessing of being able to worship in the new sanctuary at 14 Kinsell Avenue West. The first service was held on November 25th, 2012. The congregation sang beautiful Thanksgiving songs including, "We Gather Together".

On December 2, 2012, decorations greeting those in attendance included a lovely green wreath in the foyer, wreaths in the sanctuary bedecked with brilliant red bows, a shimmering Christmas tree, an advent wreath of freshly cut pine branches, and a nativity scene at the altar.

Christmas Schedule:

Sunday, December 2nd, 9th, 16th: 11:00 am services with Christmas hymns.

December 23rd: 11:00 am service combining Children's Program & Sunday Services.

December 24th: 5:00 pm Christmas Eve Service

New Pews Arrive

The new church building project has been progressing all fall. It was a major cause for rejoicing when the new pews were installed in January. There are 24 pews for a seating capacity of 250 in the sanctuary. The congregation of the Stanley Union Church anxiously awaits their move across Kinsel Avenue to the new location. Perhaps there will be an announcement sometime in early summer... watch and see! We are trusting in the Lord that this building will be used to give Him all the praise and glory and to further His kingdom in this community and beyond.
